Introducing Emmanuel: An Advent Devotional. This daily devotional, written by Fr. Angelus Montgomery, CFR, and Sr. Karolyn Nunes, FSGM, invites you to encounter Emmanuel, the God who is with us, throughout the season of Advent.

Each day is structured using the Read, Reflect, React structure found in many of YDisciple's studies for teens. Featuring reflections on the daily Gospels, Emmanuel is a catalyst for a deeper, more authentic life of prayer as we prepare for the coming of Christ at Christmas.

    WHO IS IT FOR?

While YDisciple is best known for creating content for teens, we are confident that this devotional will inspire people of all ages.

    THE WRITERS:

Sister M. Karolyn Nunes entered the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George in 2005. A native of Rhode Island, she is a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, having received a Bachelor’s degree in Theology with a concentration in Religious Education and a Master's degree in Catechetics and Evangelization. Over the past 19 years, she has worked in the field of catechetics and youth ministry in parishes and schools around the country.  Nothing brings her more joy than sharing the fullness of life and the merciful love of Jesus with others and helping them to find God’s incredible plan for their lives. Currently, she lives this out as the vocation director for her community. As part of her work, she often speaks for days of recollection, retreats, and events for youth and adults alike. She enjoys painting and other arts and crafts, as well as making music on the guitar, harmonica, ukulele, and as a human jukebox, with a song always on her heart.      Fr. Angelus Montgomery, CFR, entered the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal in 2009 and currently serves as the community’s vocation director at St. Joseph Friary in Harlem, New York. Along with helping young men in their discernment, he is involved with the Community’s outreach to the poor and vulnerable and co-hosts the Poco a Poco Podcast, produced by the CFRs. Fr. Angelus’s heart is filled with gratitude to God for the gift of being a Franciscan priest and spiritual Father. He enjoys reading, cooking for the brothers, and exercising when he has time. Before he became a Friar, his dream job was to be the White House press secretary. Learn more about the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal at franciscanfriars.com.
